POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Data and Modeling Engineer to join our IT Applications team. This role will focus on translating business requirements into reliable data models, consistent KPI definitions, reusable semantic models, and effective Power BI dashboards and reports. The engineer will work closely with business stakeholders, the Data Architect, and the existing Data Engineer to build a strong connection between enterprise data and business decision-making.
The role will also participate in structured knowledge transfer and cross-training to strengthen team capabilities and provide data modeling, reporting, and platform operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Requirements and KPI Definition

  • Work with business stakeholders and the existing data peers to understand business processes, reporting requirements, and analytical priorities.
  • Translate business requirements into documented data definitions, calculation rules, reporting specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Establish and maintain a common business glossary and KPI catalog, including metric definitions, calculation logic, data sources, owners, and reporting frequency.
  • Resolve differences in business definitions across functions and locations and obtain agreement from the relevant business owners.

Data and Semantic Modeling

  • Design, develop, and maintain analytical data models and Power BI semantic models that support enterprise reporting and self-service analytics.
  • Define fact tables, dimensions, relationships, data granularity, and historical tracking requirements.
  • Develop reusable DAX measures and consistent calculation logic to support approved business KPIs.
  • Work with the Data Architect and Data Engineer to transform source data into reliable, business-ready datasets.
  • Optimize model performance, maintainability, and reuse across business functions and global locations.

Power BI Dashboards and Reporting

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for operational monitoring, management reporting, and business analysis.
  • Present business information clearly, with appropriate filters, drill-down capabilities, and consistent reporting standards.
  • Validate report results against source systems and agreed business definitions.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, document business sign-off, and support report deployment and user adoption.
  • Monitor and improve report performance, refresh reliability, and usability.

Data Quality, Security, and Governance

  • Implement data validation and reconciliation checks to support accurate and consistent reporting.
  • Investigate data discrepancies and work with the appropriate owners to resolve root causes.
  • Apply access controls, row-level security, and data classification requirements in line with standards established by the Data Architect and security team.
  • Maintain documentation covering data mappings, model relationships, KPI calculations, source-to-report lineage, and access rules.
  • Provide documentation and evidence to support audit readiness and control reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.

• 5 years of relevant experience in data modeling, business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data engineering.

• Strong SQL skills and practical experience with dimensional modeling, fact and dimension design, and data reconciliation.

• Hands-on experience developing Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, dashboards, and reports.

• Ability to translate business requirements into clear data definitions, KPI calculations, and analytical solutions.

• Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, data lakes, and data quality controls.

• Experience implementing reporting security and maintaining technical and business documentation.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with business and technical teams across global locations

The base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $135,000 annually. In determining the rate of pay, Amphenol considers a variety of nondiscriminatory factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant industry experience, qualifications, skills, and education. It would be rare for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a given role. Base salary is one facet of Amphenol's total rewards package which includes participation in our comprehensive benefits program with medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, life insurance, short/long term disability, and membership in our Defined Contribution Pension Plan.
