Journeyperson Welder

We are seeking skilled, safety-conscious Journeyperson Welders to join a fast-paced production team in Nisku, AB.
In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding custom prototypes, jigs, fixtures, and structural components using both aluminum and steel.
Working alongside Supervisors and Lead Hands, you will play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives, hitting daily production quotas, and welding according to reset parameters. We are currently hiring welders for both Days and Nights.

Position Type: 6-Month Contract

Salary: Up to $40.00 / hour (based on experience)

Responsibilities
Read, interpret, and review blueprints or welding process specifications to ensure designs function as intended in their application.

Fabricate and weld aluminum and steel components using CWB 47.1 FCAW, GMAW, and 47.2 processes.

Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment across various processes (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, PAW, OAW, resistance, and SAW).

Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting, brazing, and soldering equipment.

Utilize metal shaping machinery such as brakes, shears, and bending/straightening machines.

Perform repairs, technical inspections, modifications, retrofits, and weld extra layers onto metal parts as needed.

Fabricate custom jigs and fixtures to support accurate, high-paced production.

Monitor parts usage, track material issues, and maintain accurate project documentation.

Assist with training, directing, inspecting, and certifying the work of apprentices and junior crew members.

Maintain strict adherence to site safety policies and provincial occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications
Certification: Licensed Journeyperson Welder in Alberta (working toward an Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB tickets is an asset).

Skills & Testing: Valid welding certification in GMAW and SMAW (all positions). Candidates must pass a weld test prior to starting (flat and vertical aluminum and flux core).

Process Knowledge: Practical experience with CWB 47.1 (FCAW/GMAW) and 47.2 aluminum welding standards.

Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience reading blueprints, performing routine equipment maintenance, and operating metal shaping tools.

Physical & Site Requirements: Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, work both indoors and outdoors, and work comfortably at heights up to 4 ft (fully guarded). Overtime as required.

Professional Attributes: Strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure in a diverse team environment.
