Job Summary

Our client, a financial services company based in Toronto, is seeking a Development Lead Full Stack to join their Web Applications team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical lead with strong front-end expertise, solid back-end API experience, and the ability to lead development teams from the front. The successful candidate will bring 10 years of software development experience, with a strong focus on modern web application development using React and Angular, API development with .NET-based backends, and cloud-native delivery within an AWS environment. While this is a full-stack role, the primary emphasis is on front-end web application development, with back-end responsibilities focused on supporting the front-end layer through APIs and service integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of modern web applications within the Web Applications team.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across front-end development, API integration, and cloud-based application delivery.
• Collaborate closely with Business Product Owners, Solution Architects, developers, QA, and other stakeholders to support solutioning, design, and implementation.
• Act as a technical expert and facilitator, helping guide team members through design decisions, development challenges, and delivery best practices.
• Develop and maintain front-end applications using React, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and related modern web technologies.
• Support API integration and back-end-for-front-end development, primarily within a .NET-based API environment.
• Contribute to the transition toward Node.js-based APIs where applicable.
• Work within an AWS technology stack to support scalable, secure, and reliable web application delivery.
• Review code, provide technical guidance, enforce development standards, and promote engineering best practices.
• Partner with business and architecture teams to translate requirements into practical, maintainable technical solutions.
• Support Agile delivery activities, including estimation, sprint planning, technical refinement, and release coordination.

Required Skills

• 10 years of software development experience, with a strong focus on full-stack web application development.
• Proven experience as a Development Lead, Technical Lead, or senior hands-on developer leading teams from the front.
• Strong front-end development experience with React and Angular.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end application architecture.
• Experience integrating and developing APIs, preferably within .NET-based back-end environments.
• Experience working with AWS cloud technologies and cloud-based application delivery.
• Strong understanding of web application architecture, API integration patterns, and back-end-for-front-end concepts.
• Experience working with Business Product Owners and Solution Architects on solutioning, design, and delivery.
• Strong collaboration, facilitation, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to mentor developers, support technical decision-making, and help raise the overall capability of the team.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of Node.js or experience supporting migration toward Node.js-based APIs is an asset.
• Financial services or banking industry experience.
• Experience modernizing web applications or migrating legacy front-end/back-end components to modern frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevOps practices, and secure software development.
• Familiarity with microservices, serverless architecture, and API gateway patterns within AWS.

Required Experience

• 10 years of software development experience, with a strong focus on full-stack web application development.
• Proven experience as a Development Lead, Technical Lead, or senior hands-on developer leading teams from the front.
