We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of delivering a stronger energy future in B.C. As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,700 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

Are you passionate about leveraging technology, data, and innovation to drive operational excellence? Join our team as a Fleet Specialist, where you'll play a key role in optimizing fleet systems, telematics, and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technologies that support critical operations. In this dynamic position, you'll partner with operational leaders, IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance fleet performance, improve sustainability, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver data-driven insights that influence business decisions. From managing advanced fleet technologies and supporting Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance to identifying process improvements and cost-saving opportunities, you'll have a direct impact on operational efficiency, safety, and customer service. If you're an analytical problem-solver with a passion for technology, transportation, and continuous improvement, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of fleet operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor, analyze and report on data trends that may impact business processes. Research and recommend solutions and seek efficiencies to reduce budget pressures and sustainability to reduce carbon footprint. Compile, analyze and prepare reports related to operations activities regarding performance and cost efficiency, asset utilization and customer service. Research and recommend opportunities for operational improvements, system enhancements, and cost savings.
  • Coordinate AVL device integration across all fleet vehicles, including installation, removal, and transfers. Manage access assignments and maintain system configurations. Ensure monthly updates reflect organizational and vehicle changes.
  • Address all enquiries related to the monitoring of fleet activity, including software and hardware issues. Investigate system issues, process breakdowns, or data inconsistencies; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective solutions. Responsible for implementing fixes and communication to impacted areas.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external teams, primarily AVL vendors, Operations, IT, Training, and Privacy. Develop and maintain system documentation, training materials, and user resources. Provide end-user assistance and guidance to stakeholders across Gas, Electric, and Fleet operations. Serve as a key contact for sensitive matters, collaborating to resolve issues, analyzing data, and prepare reports.
  • Maintain data and software quality within all fleet systems, including AVL, fleet management software and other integrations to ensure the results are reliable and the systems are fully functional. Gather, organize, and maintain fleet-related data and records to support reporting, privacy, and operational needs. Responsible for day-to-day systems administration and maintenance to ensure accurate reporting. Respond to information requests and ensure timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of industry regulations and technological changes and trends in order to ensure industry compliance. Assist in the updating and development of policy and procedures. Seek opportunities for continuous improvement. Review and update Company’s National Safety Code (NSC) program to ensure compliance with current and new regulations. Responsible for the implementation of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) regulations, compliant with the NSC.
  • Provide feedback to Manager for budget development and monthly variance reporting activities; investigate discrepancies and contact others to obtain information.
  • Special projects and other duties, as required.

What it takes:

  • Diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related discipline from a recognized program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years transportation, logistics or fleet management, and/or telematics/automatic vehicle location (AVL) experience. Fleet, transportation, utility fleet, or commercial vehicle operations experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with Geotab or similar telematics platform preferred.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of fleet management systems and telematics/AVL applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable federal and provincial transportation regulations, including the BC Motor Vehicle Act, National Safety Code (NSC) standards, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspection criteria, and ELD technical standards.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and relevant legislation, including privacy requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills considered an asset.
  • Sound judgement and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to prepare and analyze accurate, detailed, and complex reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively within demanding work schedules.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
