Salary: $65,000 - $68,500

The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high‑quality aquatic programs that align with YMCA standards and support a safe, engaging experience for all participants. This role provides day‑to‑day supervision of pool operations, including staff scheduling, payroll, inventory management, recruitment, and ongoing training and development of aquatics team members. Working collaboratively with the Center Manager, Aquatics Manager and the Association Aquatic Manager, the Aquatics Supervisor plays a key role in meeting branch operational targets and advancing program excellence across the aquatics department.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:
- Ensure the delivery of high‑quality aquatic programs that meet YMCA standards and support a safe, positive participant experience.
- Manage all aspects of pool operations, including staffing, budgeting, scheduling, payroll, inventory control, recruitment, and staff training.
- Role model YMCA service standards and provide leadership through active, hands‑on service delivery.
- Oversee first aid response across the full facility—membership, fitness, aquatics, and family development centre—ensuring aquatics staff respond promptly and effectively.
- Serve as Duty Manager during scheduled shifts, overseeing facility operations, supporting staff, resolving conflicts, and ensuring member safety.
- Lead and support association‑wide aquatics initiatives through participation in aquatics work groups and implementation of related programs.
- Ensure safety standards are consistently met by following the branch‑specific Aquatic Pool Safety Plan and YMCA policies, while directly supervising approximately 60-90 staff, including performance management and discipline.
- Provide ongoing staff support through daily problem solving, training, coaching, and decision‑making;
- Participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings and oversee facility walkthroughs
- support Aquafit class supervision alongside the Fitness Supervisor.
Qualifications-you bring:
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor
- Demonstrated achievement in implementing service standards
- YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certification or equivalent an asset
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate
- Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) pool option
- Current YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent
- Post-Secondary education or degree in a related field an asset
- Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
