Job Title: Project Manager - Redevelopment

Job Code: I05039

Category: Non Union

Department: Redevelopment

Employment Status: Full-time, permanent

Job Description

Through its core values of Courage, Respect and Excellence, CAMH is implementing its Strategic Plan: Connected CAMH, to transform lives, ignite innovation and discovery, revolutionize education and drive social change. CAMH is more than a hospital; it is a cause. CAMH is on a mission to change the way society thinks about and responds to mental illness. They aim to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and shape a world where mental illness is central to our healthcare system – a world where Mental Health is Health.

The CAMH Queen Street Campus Redevelopment is a multiphase capital program which supports the transformation of lives for those affected by mental illness. CAMH signed a contract with Carillion Health Solutions (CHS) to Design, Build, Finance and Maintain (DBFM) Phase 1B (540,000 sqft) of our redevelopment project. Phase 1B was occupied in July 2012 and CHS’s maintenance contract is for 30 years post 2012 and covers ‘hard’ FM Services. Phase 1C (650,000 sqft) was signed with Plenary Health. Substantial Completion for Phase 1C was achieved in September 2020 and CAMH occupied the new facilities in November 2020. The “hard” FM services portion of Phase 1C is now underway and will continue to be managed by Redevelopment for the next 30 years.

Two projects are currently in pre-construction development, namely:

  • Phase 1D (Forensic) – 1 building, approximately 523,000 GFA. RFP released in Fall 2022 and will be delivered as a DBF project with occupancy anticipated 2026-27.
  • Phase 1D (Research) – 1 building, approximately 375,000 GFA, at the procurement phase of the project. Project will be delivered under a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract with occupancy targeted for 2026-27.

This opportunity will support the Phase 1D Research project.

In a matrix reporting relationship with the Project Director and Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for leading and providing hands‑on project management and contract administration during the planning, design, construction and close‑out stages of the Phase 1D Research Project.
