Corporate Attorney – Private Equity M&A – New York
This role is for Canadian corporate lawyers who want immediate responsibility in the US private equity market.
You will sit across the table from sponsors and counterparties. You will run deals from mandate through closing. You will make judgment calls earlier and build client credibility faster. This is not a back-office drafting role. It is a seat where you influence outcomes and accelerate your career in New York.
Most mid-level roles slow your progression. This one speeds it up.
You gain direct access to private equity sponsors, not filtered through layers of partners.
You gain ownership of transactions, not just discrete tasks.
You gain repeated exposure to sponsor-led deal structures and market terms that translate cleanly across elite US platforms.
You also gain cross-border deal experience by coordinating with international teams, strengthening your long-term mobility.
You need 3+ years of private equity M&A experience with a clear sponsor-side focus. General corporate profiles are not a fit.
You should already be drafting and negotiating core transaction documents and running workstreams independently.
You must be coming from a Seven Sisters firm or a top-tier global law firm. This is essential.
Canadian JD or LLB required. US JD not required.
As a Canadian citizen, you are eligible for the TN visa. There is no lottery and no quota. Processing is fast and handled at the border or pre‑clearance.
This firm has a repeat TN process. You receive prepared sponsor documentation, immigration counsel guidance, and relocation support to ensure a smooth transition into the New York office.
