Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
- Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate required
- Experience working with older adults demonstrating responsive behaviours including evidence of creative application of Personhood
- Knowledge of neurodegenerative disorders, best practices, and relevant pharmacotherapy for this population
- Demonstrated application of the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation for adults with severe mental health concerns and concurrent disorders
- Knowledge of best practices to support individuals with substance use disorders including motivational interviewing and trauma informed care
- Knowledge and application of the Recovery Model required
- Knowledge of relevant acts and regulations e.g. Controlled Acts, Mental Health Act, PHIPA, HCCA
- Computer application experience required including advanced level of skill in documentation
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Certificate is an asset
- Current PIECES certification required
- Montessori Methods for Dementia an asset
