Job Description

Heavy Equipment Mechanic :

• $46.15 per hour for Heavy Equipment 421A
• Primarily day shift (some afternoons and weekends)

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment including CAT 990 loaders, large off-road trucks, pot carriers, cranes, excavators, and other large material handling machinery. Primary responsibility will be to support our maintenance activities in the shop to include, but not limited to :

Qualifications

Licenses / Certifications

College or classroom training in Heavy Equipment, Truck and Coach, or Farm Equipment

Completion of a mechanic apprenticeship

421A Heavy Equipment Technician license is an asset

Experience :

6 months to 2 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair

Preferred : Experience in steel mills, quarries, mines, oil sands, mineral processing, or heavy industrial environments

Skills :

Diesel fuel injection systems

Exhaust and cooling systems

Electrical and air conditioning systems

Lubrication systems

Mechanical and hydraulic transmissions

Power take-offs, brake systems, suspension and steering

Off-road tires and wheels, differentials

Cable and hydraulic-operated attachments

Winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators

Engine control systems

Nice to have : Installation and alignment of engines and machinery
