Position : Senior Software Developer – Shopify

Duration : 6-month assignment (contract)

Client Location : Remote within Canada (Ontario preferred)

Engagement Model : Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

About the Engagement

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer specialising in Shopify to support two large enterprise B2B Shopify initiatives. This consultant will play a key technical role—working across frontend and backend Shopify components and solving complex problems related to data modelling, performance, and enterprise workflows. The engagement will involve full‑scope Shopify responsibilities, including theme customisation, app development, integration, and optimisation for enterprise‑grade B2B environments.

Services to be Provided

Develop and customise Shopify Plus themes using Liquid and modern frontend technologies.

Support headless Shopify implementations using React, TypeScript, and Hydrogen.

Build custom Shopify apps and integrations using REST and GraphQL APIs.

Lead data modelling efforts, including meta fields, custom objects, and scalable structures.

Optimise performance across storefronts, particularly for large catalogues and B2B use cases.

Troubleshoot complex Shopify architectural challenges and platform‑specific issues.

Participate in CI / CD implementation and ensure code quality and release traceability.

Guide platform configuration, workflows, and best practices.

Collaborate closely with QA, Solution Architects, and development teams to deliver high‑quality, production‑ready code.

Implement custom theme functionality using Liquid, Shopify theme tools, and meta fields.

3+ years of hands‑on Shopify development, including Shopify Plus.

Expertise in Liquid templating, Shopify theme architecture, and checkout customisations.

Experience with headless Shopify (React, TypeScript, Hydrogen).

Strong understanding of data modelling, metafields, and structured content.

Proficiency in Shopify APIs (REST & GraphQL).

Experience solving enterprise Shopify challenges :

Storefront optimisation

Familiarity with Git, CI / CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within Agile teams.

Experience guiding junior team members or providing platform best practice leadership.

Experience with reusable components, Shopify Polaris, and admin UI frameworks.

Shopify Flow Extensions

Nice to Have

Additional experience supporting enterprise‑grade ecommerce environments.

Background working with multiple Shopify storefronts or multi‑tenant architectures.
