Sr. Financial Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to join a healthcare organization in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, planning, and decision support, helping leaders understand performance, manage risk, and make informed funding and operational decisions. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced analytical capability, and the ability to work closely with both finance and operational stakeholders.Responsibilities:- Produce monthly, quarterly, annual, and longer-range financial reports that support accurate tracking of organizational performance.- Examine budget-to-actual results, identify key drivers behind variances, and communicate findings along with practical recommendations.- Build financial models and scenario analyses to assess business cases, reinvestment opportunities, costing, volumes, and funding impacts.- Partner with operational and management teams to review financial results, discuss mitigation strategies, and support improved performance outcomes.- Prepare journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and verify that transactions and budget allocations are recorded correctly.- Support payroll and cash flow oversight by reviewing cost distributions, forecasting liquidity needs, and helping ensure timely funding for payments.- Coordinate year-end audit activities by assembling working papers, preparing supporting schedules, and responding to external audit requests.- Maintain capital asset records, calculate depreciation and amortization, and contribute to capital planning and budget development.- Prepare regulatory, statistical, and board-level financial reporting, including submissions related to ministry requirements, tax filings, and performance metrics.- Provide guidance to entry-level finance staff and contribute to special projects and other finance initiatives as needed.- University degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.- Accounting designation in good standing, with CPA or equivalent required.- At least 5 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience, ideally within a hospital, healthcare, or broader public sector environment.- Previous audit experience in a public accounting firm and strong knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards.- Demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.- Hands-on experience with capital asset accounting, cash flow planning, and month-end or year-end close activities.- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to senior leaders clearly.- Proficiency in developing financial models and using data to support operational and strategic decision-making.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
