Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute laboratory and field tests to assess performance of multi-spectral thermal camouflage technologies.Coordinate external field trials with defense stakeholders, including military end users.Translate operational user feedback into lab simulation protocols to improve product tests and specifications.Maintain comprehensive testing data, documentation, and reporting for regulatory, grant, and commercialization purposes.Collaborate closely with materials and formulation teams to guide iterative enhancements and validate results.Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment where wearing multiple hats and flexibility are essential.Demonstrate a humble, proactive mindset with eagerness to learn and quickly apply new concepts.Take ownership end-to-end, influencing not only technical outcomes but also processes and team culture.Collaborate closely across disciplines, communicating effectively with scientists, engineers, manufacturing partners, and leadership.Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities while consistently delivering results.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.3+ years of experience in test development, ideally in defense, materials science, or textile domains.Experience with thermal imaging, infrared testing methodologies, or field testing environments is a plus.Strong project coordination and ability to communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.Proactive, self-motivated, and able to handle complex stakeholder interactions independentlyProven ability to quickly ramp up and contribute in early-stage or rapidly evolving technical programs.Strong problem-solving skills combined with grit and persistence to solve previously unsolved or ambiguous challenges and proven ability to contribute beyond narrow specializationsPassion for innovation and drive to make a tangible impact on defense technologies and commercialization successSecurity Requirements
You must meet CISD and DDTC requirements for secret level personal security clearances to be eligible for this role. You are not required to have a security clearance already, although having one is a bonus.
If you do not already have CISD and DDTC security clearances, Alchemy will request information during the final steps of the interview process to perform a preliminary assessment for eligibility and likelihood of success in gaining a security clearance. If successful, we will assist you through the administrative process of gaining any required security clearances following your start date.
