Patent Agent/Lawyer, Electrical - Permanent - 18113

About the Opportunity

Our client, a National law firm, has an immediate need for a registered Canadian Patent Agent/Lawyer with a background in electrical engineering or computer sciences for their Toronto office.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Developing and implementing client’s IP strategies
• Originating drafting, legal opinions, patent prosecution and patent office proceedings
• Establishing global IP portfolios for clients
• Working with the firm’s corporate group on transactional and risk-mitigation mandates
• Assisting the corporate group on commercial agreements relating to software, data, and AI
• Actively participate in client development strategies

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

• An advanced degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer engineering, or computer sciences
• Be a registered Canadian Patent Agent with 2-5 years experience
• 2-5 years of post-Call experience in a private practice or in-house setting with exposure to patent drafting and developed technical and business acumen
• Excellent drafting, research and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
• Strong communication, client-facing, teamwork and interpersonal skills

About the Job

Salary will range between $140K and $190K, depending on experience.
