Practice Manager (Bookkeeping Firm)

Transcounts is a fast-growing accounting firm based in Langley, BC. We specialize in outsourced bookkeeping, fractional Controller / CFO services, payroll, and tax support for small and mid-sized businesses across Canada and the USA.
Location : Langley, BC (200 St / 56 Ave). Hybrid : 1 day per week WFH allowed after probation; 2 days per week WFH after 1 year.
Role Overview
The Practice Manager will lead delivery for a portfolio of 30–50 small bookkeeping clients, ensuring accurate financial operations, timely reporting, and an outstanding client experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesDelivery Quality
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly bookkeeping, accounts payable / receivable, sales tax filings, and year-end preparation.
- Own the client experience end-to-end, strengthening communication and trust.
Team Collaboration
Lead quality oversight across your client portfolio.Hold bookkeepers and reviewers accountable to SOPs and Quality Checklists.Customer Experience
Improve documentation flow, banking access, and communication channels.Represent clients confidently in CRA / IRS reviews and handle non-audit escalations.Onboarding
Own onboarding for assigned clients, with support as needed, and ensure the tech stack is configured correctly from day one.Internal Rhythm
Record client meetings (unless the client declines) and save meeting notes in ClickUp for team visibility.Provide daily / weekly asynchronous updates with bookkeepers and reviewers.Path to Fractional Controller / CFO
You may progress into Controller / CFO responsibilities after demonstrating :
Management of 50+ monthly clients and a team of 10+ members.Strong technical mastery and consistently excellent delivery.Must-haves (deal breakers)
Ability to work hybrid / on-site in Langley, BC (200 St / 56 Ave).CPA or equivalent qualification.CRA Represent a Client (Rep) account and ability to handle CRA / IRS reviews independently.Minimum 2 years working in public practice (preferably fractional CFO / Controller, Big 4, or similar competitors).Resident in Canada for at least the past 1 year.2+ years of QuickBooks Online (QBO) and / or Xero experience.1+ year of Canada / USA payroll experience and compliance knowledge (GST / sales tax, WCB, EHT, nexus).Proven team management experience, including career progression of direct reports and managing teams of 3+ full-time members.Experience owning month-end close and producing visual management reports for 10+ entities.Experience with ecommerce (Amazon, Shopify, A2X), inventory, COGS, and multi-channel operations — strongly preferred.Interview Process

Salary : CAD 60,000 to 80,000
