North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) invites qualified candidates to apply for this position.

Compensation

Base Pay Range : CA$35.41 / hr – CA$41.09 / hr (actual pay based on skills and experience, determined during negotiation).

Program Overview

The Regional Dementia Care Program provides comprehensive specialized assessment and treatment of older adults (usually >

65 years old) and / or adults with an age‑related dementia, which is complicated by behavioural and psychological symptoms, and / or medical comorbidities that exceed the capacity of the community, general hospital, complex continuing care and long‑term care system.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) – recent within the last twelve months
• Current Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate – training delivered by the Health Centre upon hire
• Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate
• Practical knowledge and understanding of dementia, including best practices for assessment and management of responsive behaviours
• Montessori Methods for Dementia and PIECES – an asset
• Experience working with older adults demonstrating responsive behaviours, including evidence of creative application of Personhood
• Knowledge of relevant acts and regulations (e.g., Substitute Decision Makers, Controlled Acts, PHIPA, College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice, etc.)
