IT Support Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for a new position of an IT Support Specialist to join our Information Technology Division, part of the Financial Services Department, and support the delivery of new and innovative technology across the City. Reporting to the Manager of Information Services, the IT Support Specialist will maintain and enhance the performance of the City’s IT service desk and will be responsible for the deployment of computer hardware and software, application system configurations, maintenance of security standards on computer systems, coordinating with vendors on software and hardware maintenance, technical support for key computer applications including M365 Applications, production deployments, and support of business processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills while working closely with vendors, internal City departments, and technical staff on issues involving Windows operating systems, patch management, business continuity requirements, network connectivity, system security and other activities necessary to maintain and enhance IT service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance IT service desk performance and support of City technology services.
• Deploy computer hardware and software and configure applications and systems.
• Maintain security standards on computer systems and coordinate with vendors on software / hardware maintenance.
• Provide technical support for key computer applications including Microsoft 365 (M365) applications; support production deployments and business processes.
• Collaborate with vendors, internal City departments, and technical staff on issues related to Windows operating systems, patch management, network connectivity, and system security.

Rate of Pay and Hours

Rate of Pay : Pay Grade 22 - $39.55 to $41.72 per hour (2024 CUPE rates) and a comprehensive benefits package is included.

Hours of Work : 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Application Requirements

Completion of a technical diploma in Computing and Information Technology plus two years related experience or Grade 12 supplemented by relevant courses in computer systems and applications; or an equivalent combination of training, certifications and experience is desired. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required.
