entry-level role that will give a person great exposure to multiple aspects of
the industry
Position Description
Data entry
of each purchase and sale ticket in the computerized scale system, which
includes scaling inbound and outbound materials and directing drivers to
appropriate loading dock or tipping area.
Ensure
weights of inbound and outbound loads are correct and direct shipping staff to
adjust as necessary.
Ensure the
recyclable materials brought in are safe and do not contain banned material.
Work
closely with the external and internal customers to ensure receiving and
shipping schedules are completed, and documentation is correct.
Must be
able to communicate effectively and professionally via email and telephone.
Accurately
perform routine data entry into a computer, make accurate basic mathematical
calculations, and accurately post and keep legible records.
Ensures
that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all
required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Willing to
be trained in and take on an administrative role to support plant team.
General
office duties including filing, fielding calls, and other duties as required.
Perform
other job-related duties as assigned.
Reports to
the Scale Supervisor and Plant Manager
Skills & Qualifications
Grade 12
or GED equivalency; job related post-secondary education considered an asset.
Previous
experience working in a related office / administrative role will be considered
an asset.
Previous
experience in Scale operation an asset.
Proficiency
in using MS Office (Excel, Outlook); can type 45 wpm.
Ability to
multi-task and shift priorities as necessary.
Ability to
work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Experience
in the waste management and recycling industry preferred.
A friendly
personality combined with a “roll-up your sleeves and get it done attitude”!
