POSITION : Supply Library Technician / Long-term Occasional

LOCATION : DSBN Secondary Schools in the Niagara Region

RATE OF PAY : $27.09 per hour (including 4%vacation pay)

SCHEDULE : On-call working up to 35 hours per week

Position Summary :

As a Supply Library Technician, you will have the autonomy to determine your availability and preferred work locations, allowing you to tailor your schedule to fit your lifestyle. This flexibility extends to choosing the days you want to work, promoting a positive work / life balance.

The Library Commons is a welcoming space for all students and is the learning hub that fosters creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, socialization, engagement and exploration. The Board is currently seeking energetic, compassionate, and student-focused Casual Library Technicians to work in our Secondary Schools on a casual basis.

The functions of this position could include (but are not limited to) :

• Cataloguing library resources;
• Operating the Follett Automation System, the library security system and Media Net;
• Delivery of library services to staff and students (e.g. circulation, shelving, cataloguing, filing, searching / locating information, maintenance of periodicals, maintaining inventory, ordering; repairing library materials and maintaining library computer facilities (i.e. Internet, Follett, etc) as well as demonstrating proper use of resources;
• Supporting an appropriate learning environment in the library;
• Participating in professional development;
• Liaison with ICT Department (Information and Communications Technologies - a component of Curriculum Services);
• All other library related duties as assigned by the Administrator of Information Communications Technologies and / or the school principal.
