Description de postePosition: Civil Litigation Law ClerkLocation: Toronto (Hybrid 3 days onsite)Salary: Competitive and based on experienceJob Type: PermanentOur client, a boutique law firm in Toronto, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Litigation Law Clerk to join their team and work directly with 2 partners and their clients, assisting in all steps of the litigation process. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.Key Responsibilities:- Support the coordination of logistics for examinations for discovery, trials, and hearings, including preparation and follow-up activities.- Communicate with Court Registry staff to obtain and manage court documents.- Handle the filing of materials with Courts and Tribunals, as well as the service of documents to opposing parties.- Organize and maintain client files, track key dates, manage deadlines, and document actions and next steps.- Collaborate with counsel, clients, and vendors to facilitate document collection, review, and production.- Prepare legal documents such as Cost Outlines, Bills of Costs, Notices of Motion, and Affidavits.- Assist in preparing Books of Authorities (BOAs), including case retrieval, side barring, and highlighting.- Upload discovery materials to Relativity and maintain accurate production logs.- Manage reminder and bring-forward systems and update pleadings indexes as needed.- Perform general administrative duties and provide support as required.Qualifications & Skills:- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also excelling in a team environment.- 5-7+ years of experience working as a law clerk (civil litigation strongly preferred) Law Clerk certificate preferred.- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of files.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal matters.- Experience with eDiscovery software and document databases (e.g., Relativity, Summation, Ringtail) is an asset.- Proficiency in Adobe PDF and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).- Familiarity with Soluno and iManage is an asset.- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, the Federal Court Rules.Work Environment:- Hybrid 3 days onsite in Toronto- Hours are 8:30am-4:30pm or 9am-5pm Monday to Friday- Supportive and approachable team and open-door policy environmentWhat's Offered:- Yearly bonus- 3 weeks' vacation and 5 sick days- Health and Dental benefits- RRSP contribution- Yearly wellness credit of $500 plus 3 wellness daysThis is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Civil Litigation Law Clerk looking to grow their career in a dynamic, out-of-the box legal setting.
