On behalf of our client we are recruiting instrumentation & control engineers to power generation utilities and other customers.
The successful candidate will provide high-level I&C engineering expertise and technical leadership to power generation utilities. You will oversee the full design lifecycle—from initial conceptualization to field implementation and close-out—ensuring all solutions meet rigorous nuclear and industrial safety standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Lead the development of conceptual and detailed equipment designs. Act as the Design Team Lead, providing technical direction and oversight to multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in electrical/I&C engineering, specifically in Control Instrumentation assessment, equipment specification, and power distribution.
- Control Systems Architecture: Apply advanced control theory to design and analyze systems involving DCS, PLC, and PID controllers.
- Lifecycle Management: Interface with procurement, construction partners, and utility stakeholders (OPG, Bruce Power, NB Power) from preliminary engineering through to project close-out.
- Field Support: Provide essential on-site engineering support for complex plant modifications and multi-discipline upgrades.
- Mentorship: Actively mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Client Relations: Assess client challenges, develop technical proposals, and negotiate contracts to deliver effective, high-quality solutions

Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Professional Status
- Degree: Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Electrical or I&C Engineering.
- Licensing: P.Eng (PEO status) or immediate eligibility for PEO status is mandatory.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain OPG and Bruce Power Security Clearance.
Technical Experience
- Experience: 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in heavy industry.
- Nuclear Proficiency: Proven experience in Nuclear Refurbishment, New Build, or Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design.
- Codes & Standards: In-depth knowledge of CSA N286, N299, and Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes.
- Systems Knowledge: Strong grasp of nuclear plant operations and the integration of digital control systems within those environments.
Soft Skills & Travel
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects under pressure and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written skills for technical reporting and stakeholder negotiation.
- Mobility: Willingness for regular travel to client sites in the Durham Region and occasional travel within the GTA.
