The Opportunity:
Beginning in the -26 academic year, we are seeking an innovative and values-driven Kindergarten Classroom Teacher to work in our Junior School on a full-time, contract basis to cover a maternity leave. The successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for enabling students to reach their full potential as they grow into learners and leaders with their strong pedagogy, social-emotional learning strategies and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Use a lens of social-emotional learning to create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability and needs;
- Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty, and other staff members;
- Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with IB PYP and Ministry of Education curriculum, ensuring differentiation;
- Develop programme of inquiry, unit plans and lesson plans, ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB PYP curriculum, with a focus on SEL, DEI and inquiry-based learning;
- Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;
- Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress, including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings, 3 way conferences and student-led conferences;
- Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in subject area(s) and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;
- Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum;
- Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with P/J qualifications;
- Minimum of three years of experience as a classroom teacher is an asset;
- Experience with kindergarten classes is preferred;
- Experience in and knowledge of the IB, specifically the PYP, is a strong asset;
- Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices;
- A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;
- Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment;
- Adept at delivering education programs electronically and ability to use electronic communication to correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;

Target Hiring Range: $68,.39 - $,.64 (placement on the grid is determined based on qualifications and years of eligible and related experience)
