What are the Responsibilities?
Manage day to day operations in a fast-paced, high volume distribution centreOversee people and processes, including a few direct reports (managers / supervisors) and many indirect reportsEnsure efficiency of all logistics activities, including Delivery, Fleet, and Warehouse operationsHire, manage, train, and encourage ongoing development of all reports, provide coaching and performance remediation as necessaryEstablish, enforce, and refine distribution targets while effectively managing KBIsOversee budgeting and forecasting operations for the distribution centre, develop sales centre DC budgetCommunicate daily plans, ensure compliance with company, facility, and industry policies (OSHA, safety, DoT, federal guidelines)Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency, drive operational excellent from a company perspectiveWork with the labour force and union representatives to ensure cohesiveness and improve culture on an ongoing basisWhat are the Requirements?
Strong management experience is critical; specifically management of a combination of union and non-union employeesAt least 10 years of experience managing a large, multi-faceted operation with robust supply chain disciplinesCollaborative, inclusive management style with the ability to gain buy-in / influence others tactfullyDemonstrable experience communicating with Union leaders, effective negotiation skillsExcellent change management abilities, must be adept at motivating others and encouraging them to adapt while maintaining strong culture and positive work environmentMust be business-savvy, with solid presentation skills; the ability to present confidently to senior management, executives, other leaders, and subordinates will be very advantageous in this roleExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExpert level knowledge of regulatory compliance and OSHA standards and, demonstrable experience tracking and reporting KPI’sPost-secondary education within a relevant supply chain disciplineSummary
