What are the Responsibilities?

  • Manage day to day operations in a fast-paced, high volume distribution centre
  • Oversee people and processes, including a few direct reports (managers / supervisors) and many indirect reports
  • Ensure efficiency of all logistics activities, including Delivery, Fleet, and Warehouse operations
  • Hire, manage, train, and encourage ongoing development of all reports, provide coaching and performance remediation as necessary
  • Establish, enforce, and refine distribution targets while effectively managing KBIs
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting operations for the distribution centre, develop sales centre DC budget
  • Communicate daily plans, ensure compliance with company, facility, and industry policies (OSHA, safety, DoT, federal guidelines)
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency, drive operational excellent from a company perspective
  • Work with the labour force and union representatives to ensure cohesiveness and improve culture on an ongoing basis
  • What are the Requirements?

  • Strong management experience is critical; specifically management of a combination of union and non-union employees
  • At least 10 years of experience managing a large, multi-faceted operation with robust supply chain disciplines
  • Collaborative, inclusive management style with the ability to gain buy-in / influence others tactfully
  • Demonstrable experience communicating with Union leaders, effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent change management abilities, must be adept at motivating others and encouraging them to adapt while maintaining strong culture and positive work environment
  • Must be business-savvy, with solid presentation skills; the ability to present confidently to senior management, executives, other leaders, and subordinates will be very advantageous in this role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert level knowledge of regulatory compliance and OSHA standards and, demonstrable experience tracking and reporting KPI’s
  • Post-secondary education within a relevant supply chain discipline
