Role Overview
We are seeking a Hardware Engineer with strong expertise in PCB design, sensor integration, and embedded firmware development. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Altium Designer or Autodesk Eagle, and proficiency in C programming for embedded systems.
This role involves designing, prototyping, testing, and optimizing PCBs and sensor‑based hardware for our intelligent hygiene systems. You will collaborate closely with firmware, software, and product design teams to bring innovative, high‑quality hardware from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test PCBs for wearable devices, sensors, and smart kiosks.
- Create and optimize schematic diagrams and multi‑layer PCB layouts using Altium Designer and / or Autodesk Eagle.
- Select and integrate sensors including IR, proximity, ToF, PIR, Wi‑Fi, BLE, and other communication or environmental sensors.
- Develop and maintain embedded firmware using C for multi‑threaded microcontroller platforms (e.g., ARM Cortex, STM32, ESP32).
- Perform prototype assembly, testing, and debugging of both hardware and firmware components.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (firmware, software, industrial design, and manufacturing) to ensure reliability and performance across all product stages.
- Conduct hardware validation, calibration, and performance testing under diverse operational conditions.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant electrical, mechanical, and safety standards.
- Support manufacturing processes, including BOM preparation, component sourcing, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and DFT (Design for Test) optimization.
- Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for field issues or performance anomalies.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in hardware design and PCB layout using Altium Designer and / or Autodesk Eagle.Strong understanding of electronics design principles, sensor integration, and signal integrity.Proficiency in C programming for embedded systems and experience with multi‑threaded processors (e.g., STM32, ESP32, or similar).Knowledge of hardware communication protocols such as UART, I²C, SPI, and BLE.Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware debugging tools.Experience with hardware testing, validation, and manufacturing support.Knowledge of certification and regulatory requirements for healthcare and electrical products is a strong asset (e.g., CSA, IEC, ISO, Health Canada).Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure device communication is an asset.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Startup‑minded : adaptable, resourceful, and proactive.
