The Intake / Employment Counsellor & Trainer is responsible for coordinating intake, delivering employment services, such as training, placement, testing, recruitment and job linking services for MOTS, ETI and SDC programs and shares responsibility for case management. The MOTS, ETI and SDC programs are employment programs consisting of a range of services to assist women on their route to employment. ABOUT YWCA TORONTO – SDC, ETI & MOTS Skills Development Centre provides vocational and non-vocational strength-based programs, and offers a wide range of products and services both locally and nationally to individuals and organizations. Products and services can be purchased and / or are free (fully sponsored or subsidized). YWCA Toronto’s Education and Training Institute is a vocational college registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities offering two certified programs : Professional Office Administration Certificate and Professional Office Administration Diploma. Moving On To Success is an employment training program for low income women and gender diverse people, some of whom may experience domestic violence or who are at risk of abuse. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Works with the teams to coordinate intake for MOTS, ETI and SDC and supports the work in putting together groups and following up with clients where necessary. Responsible for processing program and client file documentation including using CTS (Client Tracking Systems). Coordinates, facilitates and delivers workshops and training for MOTS, ETI and SDC and works collaboratively with other facilitators. Works with the Manager to develop new training courses as needed. Meets with clients and employers to assess suitability to programs, placement and training needs and makes appropriate referrals. Gathers and maintains information on community resources and training opportunities. Develops systems and protocols for programs which includes registration, intake and monitoring of client plans. Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of month end reports Identifies, administers, scores and interprets relevant vocational tests for participants based on clients' individual / specialized needs. Discusses test results and options with team members and participants to facilitate the development of a career and training exploration action plan. Administers the training and financial supports for MOTS, ETI and SDC clients including handling cash and cash equivalent for transportation and training allowances. Responsible for monitoring the criteria and accountability for training costs, financial plans and paper work for the MOTS, ETI and SDC clients. Any other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS In-depth knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (examples : Adult Education, Career Counselling and Social Work, Sociology or equivalent) 3-5 years of experience in employment counselling, facilitation, or related fields Superior group facilitation and presentation skills Group Facilitation and Life Skills training necessary Conflict resolution training and experience is required Computer training certification required Strong knowledge of employment programs, services and labour market trends Level B assessment / testing required Ability to operate in an environment that has minimal supervision and where considerable Judgement and critical analysis are required Ability to use good judgement when dealing with participant issues and challenging situations Demonstrated ability to work under pressure; ability to adapt to program change when required Commitment to equity and inclusive; experience working with diverse groups Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills Advanced knowledge of computer software e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, on-line course facilitation, databases, word processing; job search tools a must Digital literacy and financial literacy skills are strong assets Familiarly with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred Note : Vacation cannot be taken while groups are in session. Maybe on occasions be required to travel and deliver training in the Greater Toronto Area.
