The Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Educational Leadership at the Assistant Professor rank. The appointment start date is July 2025, or by negotiation.
Located on the traditional, unceded, shared, and occupied territories of the Coast Salish peoples, SFU has campuses in Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver. Simon Fraser University is Canada’s top comprehensive university, and strongly committed to community, research, and student engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A completed doctoral degree in Education or a related discipline;
- Demonstrated research trajectory in K-12, post-secondary, community, and / or adult educational settings or in relation to educational systems more broadly;
- A research agenda and related experiences that will support the ongoing mentorship and supervision support of Educational Leadership graduate students’ research (MEd projects, EdD dissertations);
- Knowledge of diverse research methodologies and theoretical approaches relevant to Educational Leadership;
- Exemplified ability to undertake supervision of graduate students, and ability to successfully mentor students to completion of their degrees;
- Collegiality and ability to work closely and collaboratively with an established community of scholarship and practice;
- A demonstrated commitment to :
Decolonization, reconciliation, and Indigenization efforts and an understanding of how that plays out within the BC and Canadian context;
We offer themed cohort programs to graduate students. Current cohorts include MEds in Imaginative K-12 Leadership, Post-Secondary Educational Leadership, Indigenous Resurgence, and an EdD Leading for Educational Change in the Yukon. The successful candidate will join an existing complement of scholars to contribute to the teaching of core courses in our Educational Leadership cohort programs and support the supervision of master's and doctoral students. Our programs are offered in-person, and based at the Surrey Campus, as well as off-campus (i.e., in communities outside of the lower mainland). We also offer an on-campus undergraduate course in Educational Leadership. Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for an Assistant Professor position is $124,700 - $153,322.
