Position Status : Temporary Full-Time (7 months)
This position is open to candidates who have recently graduated (recent graduates are considered individuals who have graduated from an accredited university or college within the last 36 months);
Available : April 2025
Description of the Position :
Reporting to the Associate, Event Logistics, the Intern, Volunteer Engagement & Events will support
all volunteer engagement initiatives and select events in the Signature Events portfolio. The Intern,
Volunteer Engagement & Events will be working on recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers
as well as supporting day-to-day activities for medium to large scale events such as Scrubs in the City,
the SickKids Staff BBQ, Donor Summit and more.
Required Skills
You will :
Volunteer Engagement Responsibilities :
Support in the development of event volunteer descriptions, communicate directly with the volunteers via email, and support with training and / or orientations
Develop meaningful and effective relationships with volunteers while always providing excellent customer service
Update and utilize event execution documents such as volunteer training documents
Attend and take minutes at volunteer planning and debrief meetings that capture key decisions, next steps, and learning opportunities
Support the management of onsite event volunteer inventory needs
Coordinate and support the oversight of volunteers on event days
Support on the development of volunteer post-event surveys and reports
Support with developing ongoing volunteer engagement strategies including e-newsletters, surveys, and other ways to enhance participation and retention
Update and maintain the volunteer database to ensure data integrity and accurate record-keeping
Provide weekly updates to Associate, Event Logistics as well as at weekly team meetings
Research and other administrative duties assigned
Events Responsibilities :
Assist with the planning and organization of Signature Events
Assist with the coordination, set-up, execution and tear down of events within the Signature Events portfolio
Qualifications :

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or diploma, preferably in Event Management, Hospitality, and / or Volunteer Management
Detail-oriented, creative, resourceful and driven
Ability to be flexible, adjusting to new tactics and strategies as they emerge
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proactive problem-solver and solution-oriented
Strong time management skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects within tight timelines
Team player and relationship builder who is passionate about events and volunteers
