Reporting to the Safety Lead, we are seeking an experienced and organized safety professional with a background in transmission line construction to provide coordinated safety support across multiple transmission projects throughout Canada. This is primarily an office-based position with occasional travel to project sites as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Support & Coordination

  • Coordinate the deployment of Safety Advisors to project sites, aligning field safety resources with project schedules and client requirements while monitoring deliverable timelines across all assigned projects
  • Provide remote safety guidance to work leaders and foremen on day-to-day HS&E matters, maintaining awareness of active project conditions, scope changes, and evolving site hazards

Client Relations & Reporting

  • Represent Valard HS&E in client meetings, pre-job conferences, and project safety reviews, preparing and submitting safety deliverables including monthly reports, safety management plans, and statistical summaries
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with client safety representatives, liaising between client expectations and field execution and escalating issues to the Safety Lead as appropriate

Field Safety Oversight

  • Review safety performance data, inspection results, incident trends, and corrective action logs across assigned projects, providing direction to field leadership and ensuring outstanding items are closed in a timely manner
  • Support field staff in incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed, and verify that JSAs, tailboards, and critical safety documents are maintained in accordance with Valard's HS&E Manual
  • Coordinate required site safety documentation (fall protection plans, confined space entry, lockout/tagout)

Program Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of field staff training, competencies, and certifications; assist in the preparation and coordination of COR, ISO 45001, and owner/client audits
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly safety performance reports, track legislative changes across assigned jurisdictions, and communicate updates to Project Managers and Supervisors

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification
  • 3 years experience supporting transmission line construction projects and stakeholders
  • Previous Health & Safety program coordination experience in a multi-project environment
  • Strong understanding of Canadian OHS legislation applicable to transmission construction, including Alberta and Ontario at minimum
  • Experience with risk assessment in transmission construction operations and activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites on an occasional basis

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience supporting COR, ISO 45001, or owner/client audit processes
  • Incident investigation experience including root cause analysis and corrective action development
  • Familiarity with client-facing safety reporting in a utility or EPC construction environment

Job Posting End Date: May 21, 2026

Benefits

This position offers a base salary range of $80 000 – $110 000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
