Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada’s oldest charities. For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Senior Counsellor, Watersportsto help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for ‘kids of all ages’ with sight loss, and their families!
Your Impact at CNIB
- Provide leadership to the waterfront team with a focus on watersports programming, through mentorship and act as a liaison between the waterfront team and the coordinator team / Section Head.
- Ensure guest safety by adhering to CNIB Lake Joe Waterfront procedures, and the standards of the Water Ski and Wakeboard Ontario (WSWO), Ontario Camping Association (OCA) and Public Health.
- Energetically and inclusively facilitate and support waterfront and non-waterfront programming, as assigned, and adapt programs so that they are accessible for all participants.
- Set up the assigned program area and ensure that all required equipment and materials are available. Clean up the program after the program is completed. Report any low materials or issues with equipment to the appropriate Section Head.
- On a rotational basis, be part of the Emergency Response Team, which includes being on call, present on site and available to respond to emergencies.
- Maintain documentation of any accidents or incidents and provide this documentation to the appropriate leadership member.
- During youth weeks : Camp counsellors will be scheduled to ensure the 24 / 7 supervision of youth campers. Camp counsellors will be assigned to a group of campers and as a team, will be responsible for ensuring the overall mental, physical and emotional well-being of campers.
- During the spring season : Setting up program areas and ensuring that all required resources are available and helping with small maintenance tasks.
