The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) are inviting applications for the position of an Academic Physiatrist. This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher (CT) or a Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI) at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, or Associate Professor. It is expected that the position will be approximately 80% clinical and 20% teaching for a CT, or 80% clinical and 20% in Quality and Innovation for a CQI. Expected start date is July 1, 2025 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in PM&R with an interest in Neuro Rehab care. Clinical duties will include providing PM&R care in outpatient clinics and inpatient settings at the Sunnybrook Bayview campus (2075 Bayview Avenue, North York ON, M4N 3M5) for Neuro rehab patients including ALS and Stroke patients. Clinical expertise in spasticity management and experience in working with multidisciplinary teams is an asset. The candidate must be proficient in the English language.
The successful candidate will join the energetic program in PM&R with academically focused faculty members at SHSC. . Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is a world leader in trauma care, emergency and critical care, brain sciences, heart and stroke disorders, and musculoskeletal care. The Division of PM&R at the University of Toronto is a strong academic program with over 80 faculty members and 20 residents, and with programs extending across the Greater Toronto Area
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and must have or be eligible for certification in PM&R by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; and have or be eligible for medical licensure in Ontario.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
