Systems Administrator – Law Firm – #5157

Position Summary

Our client, one of Vancouver’s leading law firms, is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to oversee the stability, security, and day-to-day performance of its IT infrastructure and cloud environment. In this role, you will serve as the operational lead for the IT team, helping coordinate daily priorities while ensuring technology systems remain secure, reliable, and aligned with the firm’s operational objectives.

Working closely with the Director of Technology, you will also function as the primary escalation resource for complex infrastructure and systems issues, while assisting with security initiatives, vendor relationships, and ongoing operational planning.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Support, maintain, and administer the firm’s core infrastructure, including servers, networking, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
  • Monitor and ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of systems across both office locations.
  • Oversee system patching, preventative maintenance, backup processes, and disaster recovery activities.

Cybersecurity

  • Implement and support security policies, controls, and best practices.
  • Monitor the organization’s security posture and coordinate remediation efforts when required.
  • Assist with security audits, compliance initiatives, and ongoing risk management activities.

Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate daily and weekly priorities for the IT team.
  • Manage workload distribution, team coverage, and escalation processes.
  • Serve as the operational lead in the absence of the Director of Technology.

Escalation & Support

  • Function as the highest point of escalation for complex infrastructure and technical issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members on troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Participate in critical incident response and provide after-hours support when necessary.

Vendor & Technology Management

  • Work closely with external vendors and service providers to support infrastructure and enterprise systems.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and future infrastructure requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7–10 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure, or a related technical role.
  • Extensive experience working within Microsoft environments, including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID.
  • Experience supporting networking, virtualization, storage, and backup technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, controls, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and systems issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a law firm or other professional services environment is considered an asset.
