Gateway Association

In 1975, a group of passionate parents fought to open doors for their children. Gateway Association emerged as the “Gateway to a better life” they envisioned for people with disabilities and their families. Gateway is a Family Resource Centre (FRC), an Employment Resource Centre (ERC), Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and Digital Inclusion Hub that provides education, family support, mentorship and inclusive employment.

Gateway facilitates big change via small changes and works to ignite diversity advocacy in workplaces and the community to advance inclusion culture.

Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA)

AAISA is a member-based non-profit organization active since 1980. AAISA is a regionally and nationally recognized leader in the settlement and integration sector. As an umbrella organization, AAISA represents over 50 immigrant serving agencies and organizations that work with newcomers across the province.

AAISA began as a platform to unite Alberta’s settlement sector and bring a greater recognition to the importance of the professional supports needed to settle newcomers. AAISA’s primary goals are to represent the voice of the Alberta settlement and integration sector to members of government, act as a knowledge hub (i.e. professional development and other activities), conduct pertinent research, and engage members and non-members through various methods to support newcomers’ settlement and integration in Alberta.

Overview

The Grassroots Accelerator Project is in partnership with the Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA), Gateway Association, and the Centre for Race and Culture (CFRAC). This project will focus on building the capacity of grassroots organizations that are led by and serve equity-deserving populations. The aim is to enhance these organizations' participation in the settlement and integration of diverse newcomers and contribute to increased diversity of settlement organizations in the settlement sector by providing capacity-building supports to grassroots organizations that are representative of their communities.
