freelance.caToronto, CanadaAssistant Controller We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will support the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with the Controller to manage the financial reporting process, implement internal controls, and improve financial performance across manufacturing operations. Roles and Responsibilities : Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Oversee general ledger activities, including month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Assist with managing cash flow and ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor inventory valuation and cost accounting practices to ensure accuracy.
Perform variance analysis and identify areas of improvement within manufacturing operations.
Assist in preparing and managing the company's consolidated financial statements.
Review and reconcile intercompany transactions.
Support the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Liaise with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation and reports.
Assist in the development and implementation of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
Collaborate with various departments to gather and analyze financial data to support business decisions.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff as needed.
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business initiatives. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with cost accounting and inventory management in a manufacturing setting is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
