Renee LeungAlberta, CAPosition DescriptionChildren Ministry Pastor / DirectorWESTSIDE CALGARY CHINESE ALLIANCE CHURCH (“WCCAC”)PURPOSE OF THIS POSITIONThe Children Ministry Pastor / Director is to administer, develop, and implement the Children Ministry and programs designed to enhance the spiritual well-being of the children in WCCAC.QUALIFICATIONS A vibrant personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ;A call to Children Ministry from God;High integrity and spiritual discernment;Good command of English verbal and written;Preferably capable of communicating in Mandarin and / or Cantonese;Appreciate the cultural diversity of our congregations;Fulfilled the academic requirements set by the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada;Preferably obtained a degree from an accredited evangelical seminary;At least three years’ relevant experience in children work in a church setting, preferably in North America;Capable of prioritizing and managing assignments;Self-motivated and has a desire for further training and personal growth;Committed to the ministry philosophy and programs of WCCAC; andExemplary in conduct. STAFF STRUCTURE AND RELATIONSHIPS Keep regular office hours and ministry hours in accordance with the staff policy of WCCAC;Accountable directly to the Senior Pastor, Children Ministry Elder, and ultimately to the Board of Elders;Plan with the departmental deacons, in consultation with the Senior Pastor / Children Ministry Elder, on development and implementation of plans, policies and programs relevant to the Children Ministry; andCooperate fully with Staff and church leaders in a good team spirit. MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES Work with the Senior Pastor, Children Ministry Elder, and Pastoral Staffs to cast visions and give directions to the Children Ministry;Oversee and give leadership to the planning, the administration and the co-ordination of all programs, events and activities under the Children Ministry, including but not limited to AWANA, Nursery and Toddler, Children Bible School and Junior Worship;Assist in promoting the church to the community and developing children outreach activities, in conjunction with the congregational Local Evangelism Deacons;Recruit and train lay leaders to help in all areas of the Children Ministry;Preach in children worship services and other worship services as assigned by the Senior Pastor / Children Ministry Elder;Partner with the parents / families to bring up the children with Christian values and disciplines;Provide pastoral care for the children, their families, and all the Children Ministry workers through visitation and counselling;Participate in domestic and overseas missions as agreed by the Senior Pastor and approved by the Board of Elders;Involve in Fellowship, Bible School and / or Discipleship training;Set agenda and lead the Children Ministry Board of Deacons, Prayer Meetings and all other ministerial meetings and activities as needed;Submit the Annual Report and the monthly meeting reports to the Children Ministry Board of Deacons and Board of Elders; andParticipate in budgeting process with the Children Ministry Board of Deacons.
