Position DescriptionFull-time pastoral opportunityEllerslie Road Baptist Church, a multicultural, intergenerational church in northern Alberta with regular worship attendance of 1, is searching for a full-time Worship Pastor to join its team of 20 pastors and support staff.Ellerslie is a church with a rich heritage and a bright future. The church leadership is aligned in its vision to make disciples who love God, love people, and serve the world. Since its founding over 75 years ago, Ellerslie has grown from a small fellowship of believers to an influential church that is active in church planting and international and local cross-cultural mission, and is a leader in its denomination, the Baptist General Conference of Canada. Beyond a rich heritage of Christian mission, Ellerslie today has a vibrant ministry among the many young and growing families in its community. The church has a robust online presence and holds worship services in English and Mandarin, and hosts a Persian language service conducted by local mission partners.Blessed with stable finances, Ellerslie now is planning for the next chapter in its history. Given its heritage, strategic location, and current organizational strength, the church is uniquely positioned to be a prevailing church in a fast-growing region that has few expressions of Christian worship.The Worship Pastor will work primarily with the English language worship services, to oversee all aspects of the musicians and vocalists, and work closely with the Technical Director to give leadership to the Worship Arts department. In building the team, the Worship Pastor will recruit, equip, and resource musicians, artists, and other team members to create an environment that will engage the whole church family in worship. Beyond Sunday services, the Worship Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor in planning Christmas, Easter, and other special services. The Worship Pastor will also support other Ellerslie staff in developing musical talent and passion for worship for all ages and stages.We are searching for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and some theological training who has demonstrated several years of development and oversight in worship ministry. The successful candidate must be able to engage congregants in a wide range of worship styles and settings and will have a demonstrated track record of equipping others to be leaders in this ministry area. Experience in recruiting and resourcing volunteers is necessary.
