Managing Consultant, Environmental Impact Assessment and Permitting (Senior Level)
ERM is a premier global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, and social consulting services. We are currently looking for an exceptional Managing Consultant, Environmental Impact Assessment and Permitting to join our Canadian regulatory and permitting team. This role can be based in one of our offices in Calgary, Vancouver or Toronto, with flexibility for remote work from other locations.
The position requires experience in the mining, oil and gas, energy transition, or renewables sectors, along with some exposure to environmental effects analysis and permitting. A keen interest in applying your knowledge and skills to address complex challenges in Western Canada and the North is essential.
Familiarity with provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory requirements is necessary. You will be part of a larger environmental regulatory and permitting team, joining an extensive network of global environmental and social experts.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead the preparation of local, provincial, and federal permitting documents.
- Contribute to the development of permitting deliverables, taking on roles that range from lead technical author to quality reviewer.
- Execute project delivery activities, including report writing, data collection, survey fieldwork, data and literature review, and the formulation of recommendations for clients.
- Oversee multiple projects as a project manager or task manager to ensure they align with client scope, budget, and schedule expectations, while maintaining high-quality standards for project deliverables.
- Prepare proposals by developing detailed technical scopes and cost estimates and engage in business development with existing clients and potential leads. Cultivate client relationships to foster repeat business.
- Collaborate with other ERM Impact Assessment and Permitting (IAP) practitioners to implement projects, which encompass services such as : baseline data collection, siting and routing, environmental impact assessment(s), land use planning, facility siting and permitting, and risk assessment.
- Supervise and mentor junior- and mid-level consulting staff, enhancing their skill sets through effective delegation, and training in technical planning and regulatory processes.
- Establish strong collaborative relationships with ERM employees at local, regional, and national levels.
- Support oversight on IAP initiatives and activities such as tool, template, or collaboration development as identified by Team Leaders and Partners.
REQUIREMENTS :
For the Managing Consultant, Environmental Impact Assessment and Permitting position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $86,197 – $100,284 (CAD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term / flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
