Location : Stratford, Ontario

Shift : Available for shift work and overtime as required ( See below for shift schedule )

Job Description :

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our manufacturing equipment, including stamping presses, robotic systems, cooling systems, and other automated production equipment. You will play a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting our commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, robotics, and PLC programming, who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about problem-solving and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

Equipment Maintenance & Repair :

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotic systems.
  • Diagnose, disassemble, and repair robots, stamping presses, and peripheral equipment, replacing components such as circuit boards, sensors, controllers, servo motors, and mechanical parts.
  • Install, program, and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other electrical systems.
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand and power tools, ensuring precision and functionality.
  • Terminate wire harnesses and perform electrical installations to maintain system integrity.

Documentation & Communication :

  • Maintain accurate repair and service reports, including Daily Downtime Reports and Major Downtime Reports.
  • Escalate equipment downtime exceeding 20 minutes to leadership and follow the escalation process.
  • Validate all repairs and PM activities by performing 5-Piece Validation checks.
  • Attend daily Start of Shift and End of Shift meetings to ensure effective handover and communication.

    • Qualifications :

  • Industrial Electrician, Robotic Technician certification, Manufacturing Technology diploma, or Millwright / Electrical trade certification. (3rd or 4th year apprentices may be considered)
  • Proven experience in mechanical and electrical repairs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming, robotics, and automated systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

    • Preferred Attributes :

  • Experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of 5S methodology and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Work Schedules Available -Straight Nights or Rotation of all 3 shifts
  • Days 7-3 : 10pm, Afternoons 3-11 : 10pm, Midnights 11-7 : 10am
  • Schedule : The Team is on rotation (2 weeks day 7am-3 : 10pm then 2 weeks afternoons 3pm-11 : 10pm) and is required to do 3 or 4 blocks of midnights (11pm-7 : 10am) a year.
