Description de poste

Organizational Profile

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is located on the beautiful central east coast of Vancouver Island, incorporating the municipalities of Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach, and seven unincorporated electoral areas that lie between Cassidy to the south and Bowser to the north. The RDN is situated within the traditional territories of several First Nations, including Snuneymuxw, Snaw-Naw-As and Qualicum First Nations and recognizes their rich cultural heritage. The RDN is focused on building strong relationships with these Nations.

The RDN is home to approximately 170,000 people and is growing at a very rapid pace. Growth is due in part to a mild coastal climate, diverse ecosystems, and landscapes from the Salish Sea to rugged mountains, easy access to a range of outdoor recreation, and a high quality of life.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Fire Services, the Fire Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery and administration of fire protection services and programs in the Electoral Areas of the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN). The Fire Services Coordinator will work collaboratively to optimize fire services, fire prevention, project management and the procurement and distribution of goods and services necessary to support fire and rescue operations. The Coordinator will be a key contact for multiple fire protection service providers.

This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced project manager and emergency management professional. The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate in business administration, emergency management, or related discipline, supplemented by courses in fire services and occupational health and safety, with five (5) years of related experience in capital project management in a public sector setting. The preferred candidate will have experience working with Paid-on-Call Fire Departments. A current Class 5 BC driver’s license is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

The salary for this position is $99,975-$111,083 annually and is supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan. This salary is based on the 2024 exempt salary structure and does not reflect the results of the salary review that is currently underway in accordance with the exempt compensation policy.
