Job Description

Partner Staffing  is currently working with our client seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager and a strategic partner in support of the company’s vision, mission, and strategies. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with employment related legislation, fostering positive employee relations, and developing and executing HR strategies, policies, and initiatives. They play a key role in talent acquisition and retention, new employee orientation, disciplinary action, employee development, performance management, job role and classification, employee engagement, compensation and benefits administration, and enforcement of the HSE program. They also provide leadership and support to the management team, collaborate with other departments, and contribute to creating a positive workplace culture.

Requirements

Responsibilities :

  • Human Resources Policies and Procedures : Develops, implements, enforces, and maintains HR policies, processes, and procedures. Trains employees on company policies, processes, and procedures, and works with all management in enforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Employee Relations : Mediates conflicts, conducts investigations, manages the progressive discipline process, and provides employee support.
  • Coaches and mentors employees and acts as a support for all employees on personal and business matter.
  • Coaches and guides managers and staff on the company’s employee discipline, termination, and performance improvement processes.
  • Recruitment and Retention : Develops, executes, and administers the company’s recruitment and retention program, in collaboration with all departments for operational needs.
  • Develops, implements, and manages the company’s employee and contractor orientation / onboarding program, ensuring all necessary documentation are completed and filed.
  • Training and Development : In collaboration with management, develops and executes ongoing training and development plans and programs to ensure all employees have the skills, knowledge and tools to perform their roles effectively and in support of employee growth and professional development.
  • Ensures HR policies, practices and programs are compliant with HR legislative requirements.
  • Manages and maintains information on HR database and systems. Ensures all personnel, HR, and contractor information, documents, and files are complete and current.
  • Succession Plans : In collaboration with management, establishes and maintains a succession plan for key positions within the company.
  • HSE Program : Supports all management and employees in enforcing the company’s HSE program.
  • HR Budget : Monitors and manages the HR budget, and reports on monthly / yearly budgets and expenses, as requested and required.

Requirements

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to : Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years’ experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and / or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets :

  • Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC)
  • Fish identification
  • Bird survey methodology and bird identification
  • Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification
  • Erosion and Sediment Control
  • Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered : Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories / salvage, environmental monitoring / inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
