Job Description

The Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Hesham Abdelbary is seeking a full-time “Research Support Technician” who is detail oriented and is highly motivated to learn new skills and techniques. Your role will support in vitro and in vivo experiments focusing on preclinical translational research in the field of implant associated biofilm infections and bacteriophage therapy. As a key member of our lab, you will assist in conducting experiments, collecting data, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain new technical skills and participate in cutting-edge translational research.

Tasks include, but are not limited to :

• Assist with routine microbiological experiments involving bacterial cultures and bacteriophage interactions.
• Assist in small animal experiments, including surgical assistance, administering treatments, monitoring animal health, and recording experimental data.
• Open to learning new techniques such as microCT, tissue histology, and confocal microscopy.
• Prepare media, solutions, and materials required for experiments.
• Perform basic laboratory techniques such as serial dilutions, plating, and bacterial counting.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation under the guidance of senior researchers.
• Maintain accurate and organized laboratory notebooks and data records.
• Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing research projects.
• Adhere to safety protocols and good laboratory practices.
• Support and participate in laboratory discussions and meetings.
