Our client is a well known Payments Solutions Provider based in Canada looking for an experienced and proven Sales professional within the Payments industry to lead it's Sales team.

The Sales Director will lead sales initiatives, develop strategic partnerships, and manage a high-performing sales team to achieve and exceed revenue targets. This role requires a combination of strategic insight, operational expertise, and exceptional relationship management skills.

How you will contribute :

Sales Strategy & Execution :

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to expand the organization’s SME merchant acquiring portfolio.
  • Identify new market opportunities and optimize existing channels to drive revenue growth.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to adjust strategies accordingly.

Team Leadership & Management :

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a dedicated sales team focused on SME accounts.
  • Set clear performance targets, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular sales training and performance reviews to enhance team capabilities.
  • Relationship Building & Account Management :

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with SME clients and key decision-makers.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Product, and Operations) to ensure seamless client onboarding and ongoing support.
  • Engage with industry partners and participate in networking events to expand the business pipeline.
  • Business Development & Partnership :

  • Identify and secure strategic partnerships that align with the company’s growth objectives in the merchant acquiring space.
  • Negotiate contracts and business terms with prospective and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tailor solutions that meet the unique needs of SME merchants.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting :

  • Track, analyze, and report on sales performance metrics, customer acquisition, and market trends.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for strategic adjustments to senior management.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage sales pipelines and maintain accurate forecasting.
  • What you bring to the table :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in sales management, with a proven track record in POS, payments, or merchant acquiring sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies that drive significant revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of digital payments, fintech solutions, and merchant acquiring processes.
  • Key Skills & Competencies :

  • Strategic Thinking : Ability to analyze market data and translate insights into actionable sales strategies.
  • Leadership : Proven experience in leading and motivating sales teams to achieve ambitious targets.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Negotiation & Relationship Management : Strong negotiation skills and the capability to build long-term, trust-based relationships with clients.
  • Analytical Proficiency : Competency in using CRM and sales analytics tools to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Adaptability : Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing multiple priorities.
