FCC Construcción has been present in Canada for more than 25 years, involved in innovative subway infrastructure work, such as the Highway 407 stations and Northern Tunnels for the Toronto York Spadina Subway Line Expansion, as well as the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Fredericton Moncton Highway.
We are experiencing exponential growth in our presence in Canada. In 1998, it was awarded for the construction, operation, and maintenance project for the Fredericton-Moncton Highway. In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018.
FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market.
POSITION SUMMARY
Environmental Manager
This role will be responsible for managing environmental issues on a day-to-day basis, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and maintaining effective communication with relevant stakeholders. The Environmental Manager will also ensure the smooth operation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure all environmental metrics are tracked and aligned with industry best practices.
This position is located in downtown Toronto, ON and requires a daily presence in the office and / or on the construction sites.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage environmental monitoring and follow-up programs in accordance with the Environmental Reference Documents, Additional Environmental Reports, Applicable Law, and any Permits, Licenses, Approvals, and Agreements.
- Ensure that all environmental issues are proactively addressed and that the project complies with all applicable environmental documents, including the Environmental Reference Documents and the Project Agreement.
- Submit sufficient documentation to the Contracting Authority, demonstrating the qualifications and capabilities to carry out environmental responsibilities in accordance with the Environmental Specialists Qualifications Plan
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant Governmental Authorities and other stakeholders in cooperation with the Contracting Authority Representative.
- Facilitate communication between government bodies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on environmental matters.
- Ensure the effective operation of the Environmental Management System on a day-to-day basis to meet regulatory requirements and promote sustainability practices.
- Monitor the implementation of EMS processes, ensuring that environmental performance is tracked and improvements are made as needed.
- Develop, track, and monitor environmental performance metrics in line with best practice standards.
- Report on environmental performance regularly and ensure that corrective actions are taken when necessary to address any gaps or issues.
- Stay up-to-date with federal and provincial environmental policies, procedures, and legislation relevant to the transit project.
- Liaise with specialty consultants, contractors, and Governmental Authorities to ensure the project adheres to environmental regulations and best practices.
- Cooperate with other project teams to address environmental concerns and ensure smooth project execution.
