We are seeking an Environment, Health and Safety Specialist in Taylor, British Columbia
The Environment, Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for oversight of activities related to
achieving compliance with Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
Title : Environment Health and Safety Specialist
Advantages
Provide support to NRM Operations for the implementation of various EHS-related programs,
including (but not limited to) :
o Confined Space
o Electrical Safety
o Radiation Safety
o Contaminated Sites
o Waste Management
o Incident Management
o Industrial Hygiene
o Air Management (including GHG and Fugitive Emissions)
Qualifications : Required :
Degree or Diploma in EHS-related fields
Relevant EHS-related experience
Working knowledge of environmental and OHS-related regulations, industry standards, and best
practices
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Proficiency in the use of computers and computer products
Driver’s license
Preferred :
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in EHS-related disciplines
Eligibility for or completion of Professional accreditation or Certification (P.Eng., P.Ag., RP Bio,
RPF, EP, CRSP, CIH, or associated technician certification)
Ability to work independently
Ability to form strong working relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Familiarity with incident investigations
ICS 100 or 200 certification
Responsibilities
Provide technical safety and environmental support to NRM Operations.
Maintain Surface Water and Groundwater Management plans for multiple facilities in British
Columbia.
Monitor Air, Water and Effluent permit compliance and complete regulatory reporting for
permits as required.
Review and update the NRM Health and Safety Manual and Environmental Manual as needed.
Assist with maintaining the NRM SDS inventory.
Perform EHS inspections at various sites and present findings to local area management.
Assist with or perform various OHS-related assessments (e.g., noise, lighting, asbestos, first aid,
general hazard) as outlined in the EHS RACI matrix.
Assist with or perform various environmental assessments (e.g., vegetation, erosion, wildlife
risk, groundwater) as outlined in the EHS RACI matrix
Support local area joint occupational health and safety committee, advising on regulatory
requirements and performing assessment tasks as required.
Develop and deliver written, audio-visual, and electronic communications for the purpose of
training in EHS-related topics.
Support Emergency Response scenarios in an EHS capacity
Participate in risk reviews and management of change programs.
Complete sample collection for various environmental media as required (e.g., soil, surface
water, groundwater, air, waste).
Provide support to NRM Operations for the implementation of various EHS-related programs,
