Production Geologist - Underground Mining
Our client, a rapidly growing mining company, is seeking a Production Geologist to join their underground operations team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a pivotal underground mine development project in one of Canada's most renowned gold mining districts.
About the Role :
Reporting to the Chief Geologist , the Production Geologist will be responsible for overseeing daily underground geology activities, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high safety and environmental standards. This role operates on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.
Key Responsibilities :
Ensure all underground mining activities align with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and environmental regulations.
Adhere to and promote company safety policies and procedures.
Mentor and train junior geologists in grade control processes and best practices.
Assist in the development and implementation of grade control systems, including data management and tracking.
Conduct ore control duties, visiting active ore and waste headings.
Perform detailed underground geological mapping of ore and waste headings.
Collect and analyze grade control samples (chip, muck, test hole).
Interpret geological data to support grade control and mapping initiatives.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support both short-term and long-term planning.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
Eligible for registration as a Professional Geologist (APGO) in Ontario.
Completion of Common Core modules .
3+ years of experience in underground mine geology and operations.
Understanding of the Ontario Mining Act related to mine operations.
Proficiency in Deswik, Leapfrog, and MS Office .
Ability to work in an underground environment, walk significant distances, and lift 50 pounds .
Valid driver's license .
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Must successfully pass a criminal record check and pre-employment drug and alcohol test .
