Closing Date : March 11, 2025 at 4 : 00 PMForestry & Environmental Management The Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management is a Fredericton Campus unit providing forestry and environmental management education programs to undergraduate and graduate students, among other activities. WHAT WE OFFERFull-time | Continuing | Fredericton | On-CampusStandard Work Hours : Mon - Fri | 8 : 15 am - 4 : 30 pm | 36.25 hours per weekAdditional Working Conditions : This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 50 lbs / 22.68 kg), standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.Salary Range : $55,989- $72,785 per annumYOUR FOCUSReporting to the Dean, the Technical Lead is responsible for operations management, maintenance of Faculty facilities and ensuring safe working conditions and practices at ForEm. This position also offers technical and logistic support to ForEm teaching faculty.Provide technical and logistical support for undergraduate and graduate courses - e.g. equipment needs, transportation, etc.Schedule and maintain of specialized equipment (e.g. microscopes, growth chambers, greenhouse, cold storage).Manage and coordinate greenhouse activities including production of trees and other plants for teaching and research purposes.Summarize academic support needs to document ongoing needs and opportunities within ForEM in an annual report completed after each winter term.Act as a Safety Officer for the Faculty and chairs the Faculty Safety Committee (schedules quarterly meetings).Administer chemical tracking system (Chematix) within ForEM including an electronic list of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for teaching and research labs - supporting UNB Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)Maintain and manage the online data base for ForEM personnel training records and requirements.Comply minutes and actions items for each ForEM Safety meeting and endures all follow-up is completed.Draft annual reports for the Dean to summarize ForEM Safety-related activities, solutions, risks, and priorities.Liaise with Facilities Management on alterations and renovation and general maintenance issues and represent the ForEM Faculty in building and renovation projects (a function held jointly with the Administrative Assistant to the Dean).Manage Faculty Equipment Room that includes reviewing the equipment inventory, scheduling use and maintenance of the equipment, assessing faculty needs and purchase of new equipment. Manages equipment loans and returns via electronic system for ForEM students and faculty and staff.Review and recommend space allocation and building conditions and makes recommendations to the Dean for relevant approvals. Maintain an occupancy list of rooms and spaces - ensure space is not underutilized and make recommendations on how space could be improved for users.Ensure the proper use of ForEM Faculty Truck including regular sign out, monthly inspection, cleanliness and regular safety and maintenance.Maintain campus tree inventory and help to update health assessments on a recurring basis.Work as a part of the ForEM Operations and Admin Team to run the day-to-day operations side of the faculty - plan events, coordinate student and faculty engagement activities, and share professional tips to keep the faculty ticking, share challenges and accomplishments so all are in the "know".WHAT YOU BRINGBScF, BSc in Environment or Natural Resource Management, or equivalent, or diploma from Forest Technical School with relevant work experience.At least two years of relevant work experience in forest or natural resource management.Familiarity with a range of forestry and natural resource technical work including field and laboratory procedures.
