MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer for one of our clients who are a global engineering consultancy specializing in innovative and sustainable solutions for the built environment. The company provides multidisciplinary expertise in areas such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering, energy modeling, building performance, and sustainability consulting.
Collaborating with a diverse team to develop innovative, sustainable energy systems and high-performance buildings, the Senior Mechanical Designer plays a pivotal role within a dynamic design team. This role involves leading the design and engineering of heating, cooling, plumbing, and low-carbon energy systems across various building types and applications, including residential, mixed-use developments, office buildings, district energy systems, airports, community centers, art galleries and museums, childcare facilities, firehalls, and aquatic centers.
Responsibilities :
Perform and review calculations for heating, cooling, and ventilation loads using tools such as HAP, TAS, or Excel.
Develop mechanical and plumbing schematic designs and finalize layouts.
Create and maintain detailed schedules for mechanical equipment and motor lists.
Review and prepare comprehensive mechanical specifications.
Select and confirm mechanical equipment and motor lists following established selection procedures.
Review shop drawings, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and address other construction-related changes.
Collaborate with other disciplines on the project design team to ensure seamless coordination of mechanical requirements.
Lead and supervise Junior and Intermediate Designers, ensuring quality project delivery.
Coordinate or confirm service requirements and connections with relevant utility or municipal agencies.
Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals.
Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
Qualifications :
Over 5 years of design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
University degree or college / technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) designation is highly preferred.
LEED® or Passive House Accreditation is considered an asset.
Experience with Passive House, Aquatics, or District Energy projects is a plus.
