Tour guides must be able to retain historical facts, dates, and anecdotes, and then relay that information to visitors in an entertaining, informative way. Ambassatours tour guides represent not only Ambassatours but Atlantic Canada as well.Work Hours : seasonal position from approximately April to Novemberirregular work schedules that take place over 7 days per weeka web / app-based program is used to communicate and manage shiftsno minimum guaranteed number of shifts, hours or tours.cross training in other branches of the company are available for the right candidate.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director Cruise Operations and Team Lead the incumbent will be responsible for : follows a pre-determined tour outlined designed by the cruise line and AGL (Ambassatours Gray Line)collects and accounts for all tickets, vouchers and admissionsaccounts for, and is responsible for, every passenger while in their charge for the duration of the time they are togetherplans and organizes routes and stops in an allotted timeframe within the parameters of the contract / tour description / direction of the MOSplays the role of a cultural ambassador·delivers historically accurate commentary and interesting tidbits of information in an entertaining fashionprovides guidance and takes control of a group while in their carereports any and all issues to the MOS / Operations Team immediatelyworks well with local tourism suppliers and other staffcomes prepared for the tour assigned with a full understanding of the requirements and how to execute themcommunicates any tour irregularities or issues immediately with the Main on SiteQualificationsQualifications : willingness to participate in and receive, on-the-job training and evaluationssuccessfully complete tour assessment and training to establish readinessreliable and continuous access to emails and a cell phone is required during working hoursability to climb and descend at least one flight of stairscontinuously walk a minimum of 1 km on varied surfaces and elevationsSkills Required : prolonged periods of public speaking and voice projection, min 1.5 hours at a timeprofessional manner and appearanceeffective communication and conflict resolution skillsstrong performance in custodial abilitiesstrong ability to time manage and be punctualability to follow assignments and instructions as deliveredenthusiasm and desire to sell Atlantic Canada as a travel destinationexcellent organizational skillsflexibility to work shifts including early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekendsexcellent oral and written communication skillsstrong observation skills, attention to detailpersonal cleanliness & aesthetics of working spacefriendly, customer-focused personalityflexibility and a willingness to rally to changing conditions like weather, traffic or delays.ability to work under considerable time pressure at timesAbout Ambassatours Gray Line Ltd.For over three decades, Ambassatours Gray Line has stood as a leader of excellence in sightseeing in Canada's East Coast, offering award winning land and water tours across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.
