Current projects include the premier provincial asset Bayview Place – a mixed-used development in the heart of Victoria. The 20-acre hilltop site is adjacent to the provincial capital’s inner harbour, a 10-minute walk from downtown, and includes four districts.
The role -
The Chief Financial Officer ("CFO") will report directly to the Owner and will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. The CFO will oversee all financial functions of the organization and will play a critical role in guiding and managing the evaluation, financing, negotiation and closing of real estate investment opportunities, including asset dispositions and leasing. Furthermore, the CFO will work in partnership with the Owner in formulating the company's future direction and supporting the development of strategic initiatives.
The CFO will have responsibility for managing and reporting on all fiscal and fiduciary affairs of Focus, including reporting to ownership, investors and lenders; cash and investment management; budgeting and forecasting; and managing the day to day operations of the accounting department.
Additionally, the CFO will direct the implementation of strategic business plans, supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiation, assist in managing investor relations, secure appropriate financing requirements, as well as monitor and manage risk.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Ownership and executive level technical oversight of all finance related matters for Focus and associated companies;
- Oversee capital and business financing. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key financial partners including funders, investors, partners, government and vendors
- Oversee the development of annual consolidated financial statements
- Support the identification and evaluation of real estate investment opportunities, including alternative sales and development strategies for existing assets;
- Development and management of financing, equity and joint venture partnerships;
- Supporting the development and execution of a strategic plan and organizational business plan;
- Deliver results against the approved budget and business plan
- Develop tax strategies and planning
Please note that while Head Office is based in Victoria, and a local presence preferred - a remote / hybrid working model or relocation from other parts of Canada will be considered if relevant.
