Job Summary : The Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of school buses, and other Division owned vehicles.
Education & Qualifications :
- A valid journeyperson certificate in motor mechanics.
- A minimum of Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education of General Educational Development (GED)
- A vehicle safety inspection certificate
- A valid Class 1-5 drivers license
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in school bus or heavy equipment repair
- A minimum of two (2) years experience with gas, propane, and diesel engines
- Must have own tools
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently in a time sensitive environment
- Must be very safety conscious
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Note : Consideration will be given to applicants who are in their 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship program and / or do not meet all of the minimum certification and experience requirements
Physical Requirements : The ability to do heavy work is required (i.e., exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and / or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects). Employees must be physically fit and able to handle various tasks involving lifting, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing.
Wage & Benefits : Prairie South School Division offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Currently this is a range of $33.22 - $37.90 per hour.
