WHO WE ARE

ONE KIDS PLACE Childrens Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

  • To ensure we can meet the needs of our communities at times that work best for them, our staff are expected to maintain flexibility in their schedules, which may include working outside standard business hours as per client needs.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Therapy Assistant will work with the Rehabilitation Therapists and Teacher to deliver an integrated service plan to children transitioning to school. The Therapy Assistant will work daily in the classroom planning and implementing programming for children in the pre-academic environment. Assist children in toileting, dressing, following routines, socializing with others, developing the skills necessary to transition successfully to school, and ensuring documentation is consistent with agency standards.

JOB DUTIES :

  • Individual will be responsible for carrying out group and individual activities with children in an effort to teach and develop the skills necessary to transition successfully to school.
  • Individual will be working directly with a Rehabilitation Therapists and Teacher in the Transition to School Program.
  • Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Childrens Treatment Centre standards and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Makes recommendations to the therapist who determines the need for other discipline involvement in addressing the needs of the child / youth.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and / or volunteers.
  • Pursues on-going professional development and growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Post-secondary education required. Rehabilitation Assistant Program graduate preferred, or post-graduate diploma in the health human services sector.
  • 2 years related work experience within a pediatric / health care setting with children and youth with special needs an asset
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the District of Nipissing
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment under the supervision of assigned therapists
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to collect data and evaluate the childrens progress towards goal attainment
  • Valid Ontario drivers license and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector
  • Bilingual (English / French) is an asset

  • Afin de pouvoir rpondre aux besoins de nos communauts aux moments qui leur conviennent le mieux, notre personnel est tenu de faire preuve de flexibilit dans ses horaires, ce qui peut inclure des heures de travail en dehors des heures normales de bureau, selon les besoins des clients.
  • SOMMAIRE DU POSTE : Lassistant(e) en thrapie travaillera avec les thrapeutes en radaptation et lenseignant(e) afin de mettre en uvre un plan de services intgr pour les enfants en transition vers lcole. Lassistant(e) en thrapie travaillera quotidiennement en classe pour planifier et mettre en uvre des programmes pour les enfants dans un environnement pracadmique. Il / elle aidera les enfants dans les routines de toilette et dhabillage, dans le suivi des routines, la socialisation avec les pairs, le dveloppement des comptences ncessaires pour russir la transition vers lcole, tout en veillant ce que la documentation soit conforme aux normes de lorganisme.

    RESPONSABILITS :

  • Raliser des activits de groupe et individuelles avec les enfants afin de leur enseigner et dvelopper les comptences ncessaires pour une transition russie vers lcole.
  • Travailler directement avec un(e) thrapeute en radaptation et un(e) enseignant(e) dans le programme de transition vers lcole.
  • Documenter les activits lies aux clients et les pratiques de travail selon les normes du Centre de traitement pour enfants et respecter la confidentialit et la vie prive des clients.
  • Faire des recommandations au thrapeute qui dterminera la ncessit de lintervention dautres disciplines pour rpondre aux besoins de lenfant ou du jeune.
  • Participer lorientation et la formation des nouveaux membres du personnel, des tudiants en stage et / ou des bnvoles.
  • Poursuivre son perfectionnement et sa croissance professionnelle.
  • Accomplir toute autre tche assigne.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Formation postsecondaire requise. Diplme du programme dassistant en radaptation prfr, ou diplme de deuxime cycle dans le secteur de la sant et des services sociaux.
  • Deux (2) annes dexprience pertinente dans un milieu pdiatrique / de soins de sant auprs denfants et de jeunes ayant des besoins particuliers (un atout).
  • Connaissance pratique des ressources et soutiens communautaires dans le district de Nipissing.
  • Capacit travailler au sein dune quipe interdisciplinaire sous la supervision des thrapeutes assigns.
  • Excellentes comptences interpersonnelles et organisationnelles.
  • Excellentes comptences de communication orale et crite pour recueillir des donnes et valuer les progrs des enfants vers latteinte des objectifs.
  • Permis de conduire valide de lOntario et vhicule fiable.
  • Comptence informatique et capacit dadaptation aux logiciels utiliss pour les valuations, la documentation, la planification et la communication.
  • Preuve de vaccination contre la COVID-19, tel quexig dans le secteur.
  • Bilinguisme (anglais / franais) est un atout.
